Description:
The Method for Church Unity
“‘So if there is any encouragement in Christ,
any comfort from love, any participation in the
Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my
joy by being of the same mind, having the same
love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do
nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility
count others more significant than yourselves.
Let each of you look not only to his own interests,
but also to the interests of others.”
Philippians 2:1-4 (ESV)
Three Questions on Church Unity
1. Why We Do It?
- We do it because of what Christ has done for us.
(Philippians 2:1)
- We do it because of what others have done for us.
(Philippians 2:2)
2. What Does It Look Like?
- Being of the same mind literally means we think
the same things (Philippians 2:2)
-- Pulling up with each other and sometimes
compromising individual comfort and wishes
3. How Do We Do It?
- Put Others First. (Philippians 2:3)
- Watch each other’s back (Philippians 2:4)
-- Unity in times of pushback and struggles
avoids selfish ambition.
-- Standing together united in advancing the
Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ
