Finishing Well – A Three Dimensional View of Life

6For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.
7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;  8in the future there is laid up for me )the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, ill award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
2 Timothy 4:6-8  (NASB)

A Three Dimensional View of Life

1. Presence is the first dimension. (Vs. 6) “6For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.”
- We are to live in the present. Our life is being poured out; we truly begin dying from the moment of our birth. Time is not a renewable resource, it can’t be added to. It can only be redeemend.

2. Past is the second dimension. (Vs. 7) “7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”
- We need to inventory our life as it has gone by in and effort to chart the course for our remaining time.
- “I have fought the good fight…” How have you expended your energy doing what was right? Are you giving your energy doing the “right” things?
- “I’ve finished the race…” Can you honestly say you’ve dealt with the things God has given you? Are there spiritual disciplines you need to work on? Are their relationships you need to mend?
- “I’ve kept the faith…” Have you guarded and secured your faith. Have you handled it properly? Have you shared it?

3. Future is the second dimension. - Longing for the future. (Vs. 8) “8in the future there is laid up for me )the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, ill award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” The question to come is “Whad did you do with what I gave you?” Our eternity in heaven is not at question. As followers of Christ; that’s not the issue. What is the issue is the reward. The crown of righteousness.
