Standing Strong in the Storms of Life Series – Storms of Life
1 Peter

A Living Hope, and a Sure Salvation
1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure. (1 Peter 1:1-2) (NASB)

Storms of life. Not if; but when they come.

- We must have a humble view of our Salvation like the Apostle Peter. “But He gives a greater grace therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the Humble.” James 4:6 (NASB)

- Peter was humble.
-- Humbled by his Salvation. His name was changed from Simon to Peter (Fragmented Rock) which Jesus Christ would later refer to as he said he would become the Rock on which the church was built.  (
"I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.” Matthew 16:18 (NASB))
-- Peter was sensitive to hurting People
-- Peter was an Apostle (With Jesus in the Flesh, Witnessed the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and was given special authority by Christ).
-- Peter was an Ambassador of Jesus. He served others; not himself.

-- Remember when the storms of life come (and they will) you’re not holding onto Jesus; He’s holding on to you.
