Standing Strong in the Storms of Life Series – Storms of Life – Part 2
1 Peter

A Living Hope, and a Sure Salvation
1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure. (1 Peter 1:1-2) (NASB)

- To the Audience – Those Chosen in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.

- High View of Salvation reminds us of the sovereignty of God. Reminding us that we don’t hold onto God during the storms of life; he holds on to us.

- Chosen – It began when you were chosen by God (Verse 2) with the full understanding that it was Godly ordained. Your question may be how can God choose us and still allow us “free will.” This is a Great Mystery of God.

- Called – God through eternity past (foreknowledge (verse 1) knew of our election through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

- Cleansed – To obey Jesus Christ by turning from ourselves to the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

- Aim – Hopeful view of our Standing in Jesus Christ. Our desire and ability to do God’s will.

- Grace and Peace can make you hopeful in your standing.
